Heartbreak is one of the fundamental human experiences. It is inevitable that at some point in your life, and probably more than once, someone or something will shatter the world you know. Sometimes, if you are lucky, the person who breaks your heart hands you the tools to fix it. This song, “Crumbling Road”, is my way of trying to tell the tale of that happening in just under four minutes. Even a broken path, if it leads you back home, is a better journey than wandering around lost, hurt, and afraid. All of the experiences of my life have lead me to who I am today, and everyone who has ever broken my heart has made me stronger.
This is my first music video that I have ever put out that wasn’t a live performance, and I’m pretty proud of it. I directed and edited it myself, and it was shot with the help of Max Porter and Joe Casey. I can’t thank either of them enough.
I would like to say a huge thank you to Guitar World and Guitar Player magazines for premiering this video on their websites. I grew up with subscriptions to both of those and stacks and stacks of them laying around my room with photos torn out an pinned to my wall, it’s kind of a dream come true to have my name on their lips.
